We’re Popping up in Pittsburgh!

Ontario in #PGHThis spring we’re heading to Pittsburgh, PA  and bringing along some of Ontario’s tastiest treats, most thrilling attractions, and most beautiful places. Between April 7-9, 2014, stop by Pop Up Canada at 623 Smithfield St. and experience a little bit of Ontario in your own backyard. Here’s a peek at what you can discover:

The Stanley Cup

Hockey’s most prized trophy is paying a visit to Downtown Pittsburgh!

For one day only, the Stanley Cup will be on display today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Pop-Up Canada.

Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance

The Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance is a meeting place for growers, chefs and people who love fresh Ontario food. By combining local food and drink with travel, culinary tourism offers an authentic taste of place. They’ll be featuring culinary creations Chef Gregory Waters from Northern Edge Algonquin and some delicious food sampling each day.

Ontario has three primary grape-growing regions, or “appellations,” where the soil and climate create unique growing conditions, including the Lake Erie North Shore, the Niagara Peninsula and Prince Edward County. Enjoy wine sampling from Cave Springs Cellars of the Niagara Region from  April 7-9.

Defining the Toronto skyline, at a height of 553.33 metres, the CN Tower is an engineering wonder and one of Toronto’s must see attractions. Are you brave enough to take on the CN Tower’s EdgeWalk? The first of its kind in North America, EdgeWalk, is the world’s highest full circle hands-free walk on a 5 ft wide ledge encircling the top of the CN Tower’s main pod 116 stories above the ground – and of course the view from the top of the tower is incredible. See if you are up for the challenge with the CN Tower’s EdgeWalk augmented reality experience.

Niagara’s South Coast Tourism Association

A short drive from the majestic Niagara Falls takes you to Niagara’s South Coast, where you can experience the hospitality of the welcoming communities dotting the shoreline. If beaches, bike trails and chocolate sounds like your idea of a match made in heaven, you’ll want to say hi to the folks from Niagara’s South Coast. They’ll be giving away chocolate samples!

Niagara Parks Commission / Niagara Parks Golf and War of 1812 Heritage Sites

Something for history buffs and something for sightseers! The Niagara Parks Commission is bringing along period costumes from the War of 1812 to promote the 1814 Battle of Chippawa, the Laura Secord walk and the Siege of Fort Erie which will be Canada’s largest re-enactment weekend. You can also try out their mini-put station, and imagine yourself golfing on the beautiful Niagara region golf courses. Plus, find out more about Canada’s natural wonder, Niagara Falls!

Ontario is a big province with lots to do. Every region is bursting with its own unique style and charm. Start in one region, and before you know it, you’re off to another, because the more you explore the more you’ll find. We’ll be bringing a little of the Canadian outdoors to Pittsburgh! Try your hand at the fishing simulator and get to know the unspoilt wilderness of the areas of Algoma Region, the City of Sault Ste. Marie and more.
